Projects
We have two major categories of projects:

  • Encouraging New Stories - The purpose of these projects are 1) Examining the current story.  2) Looking at older stories that coincided with long term sustainable lifestyles, and 3) Exploring ways to craft and communicate "new stories" that can again engender sustainable societies.  Some examples of these are below:

Transition Community - Classes and experiential workshops present information on navigating through energy powerdown and "the long emergency."  These are sometimes offered as part of larger university courses for credit.

Indigenous Mindset - The One Wheel or ekacakra system is presented as a bridge between the modern civilized worldview, and one which reclaims a more holistic and adaptive understanding of how the world works.  It combines archetype and metaphor with current knowledge, allowing better collaboration between reason and instinct than available to the average modern human.  See the introductory PowerPoint presentation on Remembering and Reclaiming Being Human.

  • Tracking the Process of a Collapse-in-Progress - while the three legs of sustainability (environmental stability, social stability, and economic stability) do not appear to be achievable in the current system, their corollaries (environmental, social, and economic instability) are valid flag indicators for collapse.  Because there is a finite amount of time available for education and reorientation for those willing to face the harsh realities and challenges of our day, it is essential that we keep close and accurate tabs on the status of societal disintegration.  This includes an estimate of time remaining before significant disruption occurs in global transportation and communication networks.  Below are examples of some of these:

Social Instability Index - research is underway on identifying precursors of social collapse and the development of a system of categorization of levels of instability.

Global Risk Assessment - using cycles of emotion, perception and behavior on national and global scales, we remain alerted to near future risks of socioeconomic and geopolitical instability.  Our MoodCompass Project is a direct application of this research, and has resulted in our ability to successfully predict the trend changes of the stock market, the dollar, and the price of crude oil as well as fluctuations in the outlook of global society, the geopolitical situation, and likelihood of environmental hazards.

Natural Hazard Alerts - using the OneWheel framework to track cycles of human perception of Nature from various cities around the planet, we have developed a mapping process to inform of near future natural hazards.  See the Earth's Mood Cycles.

Presentation,  Public Panic Crisis Event  -  On occasion, we share some of our research with local communities as a public service.  This presentation at Western Kentucky University served to educate the public regarding a potential and preventable crisis event we were on alert for.
